In recent years, round, firm buttocks have become a desirable shape. Although exercise and weight loss can assist tone muscles and modify the appearance of the area, butt implants are a speedier option to achieve a shapelier result.

Buttock implants, also known as buttock or gluteal augmentation, are surgically inserted in the buttocks to add volume.

Buttock implants and other buttock augmentations are most effective in those who have a steady weight and little additional skin. Butt implants, unlike the Brazilian Butt Lift, which uses fat injections, provide a permanent outcome.

People usually seek out butt implant procedures because of things like:

  • Having the impression that their back end is too small for their frame
  • A butt that appears to be less “flat” or “square” than desired.
  • A sagging rear end as a result of weight loss or aging
  • They want their garments to fit them better.
  • They want to improve their self-esteem.

What Happens During a Butt Implant Procedure?

When patients want additional definition in their buttocks, implants give great results.  Other butt enlargement operations may not be possible due to a lack of fat tissue. Butt implants don’t work as well in persons who have recently lost weight and have a sagging rear end.

Your doctor makes the cut to place the implants after giving you anesthesia so you won’t feel anything. They can do it at the top of your upper buttocks, the bottom of your buttocks, or between your cheeks. The implants are placed in or below the muscle on both sides of your buttocks by the doctor.

The surgery is carried out under general anesthesia. You’d have to stay at the hospital for the night.

During this time, you must sleep on your stomach or side and perform all activities except going to the bathroom while lying or standing. When you’re ready, your cosmetic surgeon may allow you to sit in a different position, such as on a “donut” seat or with a pillow between your thighs to ease buttock tension. Normal sitting activity is normally permitted after 8 weeks.
